Green smoothie - without banana
Bananas are a great addition / staple in the blender world. Cut them, freeze them and add them to any smoothie to help create a creamy glass of goodness. I find once I've frozen them, their flavour isn't quite as powerful, which is nice, as it allows the other ingredients to sing. So yes, I do like / use / support / encourage bananas. However, sometimes it's nice to have a blender beverage or meal without them. But how do you achieve the creaminess or thickness? Oats my friend. Oats.

Here's a really simple smoothie recipe if you aren't feeling bananas. It's still filling and works as a good substantial snack or a satisfying breakfast. The oats add a bit of earthiness to the smoothie - which I like but do feel needs a few things to help lift it. Lemon & mint.
INGREDIENTS:
*serves 1
large handful of spinach
1/4 cup oats
1 date
1 cup milk of choice
1 pear (peeled if not organic)
a few leaves of mint
squeeze of lemon
Put all ingredients into your high powered blender. Start on low and slowly increase speed until all ingredients are incorporated and the oats are fully blended.
Enjoy!
